Nitrates Success in Test Valley, Hampshire

Posted on: 02/11/2020

The Civil Engineering Practice completed a Nitrates Assessment Report for a single dwelling in Hampshire village and, in collaboration with Louise Cutts, Wessex Planning and Lesley Hally, LA Hally Architect, it has become the first to receive approval from the Local Planning Authority as being proven to be nitrate neutral with Full Planning Permission finally secured on 29th October 2020.

The approved proposal includes an upgrade to the current Package Treatment Plant serving the existing dwelling to a more efficient ‘Bio-bubble’ Package Treatment Plant that will create a nitrates surplus for the site. By reducing the nitrates from the existing dwelling the sitewide nitrates for the proposed dwelling would be balanced thus allowing development to take place whilst preventing additional nitrates emanating from the new development and adversely impacting on the Solent and Southampton Water SPA.
